| Mark makes personal performances at shows, schools, and conferences, in the interest of education and sharing the American Indian way of life with others. He also conducts drum workshops, and while teaching the process of making an Indian drum, he shares his deep knowledge of Indian history and lifeways. In 1990, Mark began to offer his North American Indian Folk Art to the public. Since that time, he has received Awards of Excellence and special recognition at many Art Shows and Festivals for his fine traditional work.Turtle Island Arts emerged and the "Road Show" Gallery began to travel over North America and meet many new and old friends each year at shows and powwows. donehogawa's fine craft arts are well known and loved by people all over the country. Mark Barfoot is well known as a flute maker and drum maker. Mark's flutes are made of one piece of wood, hand bored and tuned. He keeps the traditional way of creating his art. He is a keeper of the traditional elk hide drum, a deep and basic part of American Indian life. His work is more than collectible art, and can be found in the Smithsonian Institute for the American Indian. His art is a personal way of sharing the spirit, integrity and wisdom of Native American Indian people. We honor them by using Mark's fine craft arts. While at the Champion of Champions Powwow, on the Six Nations of the Grand River Reserve, Mark was demonstrating playing one of his Indian Love Flutes, when the owners of a CDR Recording Studios approached Mark, and wanted to record Mark's flute songs. Since that time Mark has recorded three spiritually motivated albums of Indian flute music. Those albums are Dreamscape and Moved by the Spirits, and Chief's Dance. These three recordings take you on a 'Spiritual Journey', that you will really feel in the center of your being. Mark Barfoot is a talented composer and performer, you will find his music an inspiration. Mark recently has made custom drums for Peter Buffett and Spirit the Seventh Fire. Mark's art is an essential part of the awesome First Nation's music and dance production. Mark's fine art and craft gallery was a part of the Spirit experience recently in Louisville, KY, and in Philadelphia, PA. Mark Barfoot, (donehogawa) a North American Indian Folk Artist was born in 1952 in North America, the son of an Wolf Clan Onondaga mother and an Contact Mark Barfoot at 931.242.6207 to arrange a one, two, or three day drum workshop. Mark, donehogawa, teaches you to make your own elkhide drum. During the drum making, Mark shares the lifeways of his culture and the history of his people with youth grades 5-6 through adult.
